Former Senator Shehu Sani has raised concerns over the continued dominance of Nigeria’s political landscape by the same generation of leaders.

According to him, the long-promised future for young people remains out of reach.

In a statement made on Sunday, Sani highlighted that children born in the year 2000 have now turned 25, yet many of the political figures they studied in history books are still in power or preparing to contest in upcoming elections.

“The children of the elites are also strategically positioned and empowered to inherit power.

“The truth is that the proverbial ‘tomorrow’ that belongs to the youth has been fully booked.” He said.

His remarks come at a time where many young Nigerians continue to call for political reforms that would create more opportunities for new leadership.

Sani’s statement simply shows a growing sentiment that Nigeria’s political class remains largely unchanged.
